Twenty-One Is the Figure of Fun

Anyone who’s ever heard of Blackjack before will know that the aim of the game is to make it to 21! Blackjack is played with several decks of cards and players play against a dealer. The dealer deals cards to himself or herself as well as the players.

When you are playing live Blackjack online or at a real casino, you’ll sit with other players at a table. In Blackjack from Novomatic casino, you will play on your own against the dealer (or rather the computer). This is great if you’re new to the game as you can play without any pressure.

You can take your time when deciding your next move and you won’t have the dealer or any other player rushing you. If you want to check the rules or anything before you decide on your next move, you can do so. There’s no time limit and you control the pace of the game.

Blackjack is one of the most-played and most-loved casino games of all time. That’s because it pays incredibly well! The house edge is usually very small and the RTP for Blackjack can be almost 100% when you play with an optimal strategy!

Strategy does come into this game more than it does in a game like Sic Bo or Roulette. You can learn this and the more you play, the more you learn and the better you get! If you keep twenty-one in mind while you’re playing, you won’t go far wrong at all.

A Old-School Table Game

Retro makes a comeback in Novomatic Blackjack. This table game doesn’t try too hard to be modern or fancy. It’s just a simple table game that’s full of old-school class. You see the polished wooden table covered in high-quality felt with gold details.

The minimum and maximum bets are available on a plaque, next to the chip holder. The smallest chip value is yellow, and then in ascending order, there are also white chips, red chips, blue chips, green chips, brown chips and pink chips.

The buttons to play are at the bottom, in the middle. Your balance, bet and win amounts are displayed at the bottom to the left. At the bottom on the right, you can adjust the speed of the game (how quickly the cards are dealt).

Right at the top, above the cardholder, you can see the sound and screen settings. Here you can make the game full-screen, if you want, and turn the sound effects on or off and adjust the volume. The payouts are displayed clearly across the table.

How to Play Blackjack

Playing Blackjack is easy, it’s getting to 21 that’s a little trickier! However, you don’t always have to get exactly 21 to win. You just have to beat the banker. You beat the banker by getting a hand that adds up to a number closer to 21 than him or her. The banker has rules when he can and can’t draw another card, however, you are free to do as you please.

At the beginning of the game, simply choose the chip size you want and place your chosen bet on the seat of your choice. This can be any amount, so long as your total bet is between the minimum and maximum bet size per round. In Novomatic Blackjack, there are three seats at the table.

Where to take a seat in Novomatic Blackjack

You can play on all three positions, any two or any one of them, depending on how lucky you feel (or how unlucky you think the dealer will be). You can change this each round by choosing ‘New Bet’ or, if you’re happy with how you’re playing, choose ‘Re-bet’ and the game will place the same bets on the same positions.

The dealer will then deal two cards to you and two cards to himself, one at a time. If you get Blackjack and the dealer doesn’t, you’ll be paid immediately. Similarly, if the dealer gets Blackjack and you don’t, you’ll lose your bet and the dealer will win immediately. If, however, neither of you get Blackjack, you can continue playing.

Your turn!

When it’s your turn, you can choose to Stand, Hit or Double. If your two cards are the same value, you can Split and then play as if you have two hands. You can draw another card and click ‘Hit. If you want to double your bet and draw another card, choose ‘Double’. When happy with the hand and you don’t want to draw another card, choose ‘Stand’.

If you get 21, you will automatically Stand. Then it will be the dealer’s turn. It’s totally your choice when you choose to draw another card or stand. The dealer, however, has to follow certain rules. He has to keep drawing another card until his total equals at least 17 or he goes bust. If he has 16 or less, he must draw another card.

Blackjack Betting Strategies

There are many betting strategies for Blackjack that have been put forward over the years. Some strategies suggest that you increase your bet after a loss, whereas other strategies suggest that you increase your bet after a win. The most popular betting strategy used in Blackjack is the Oscar’s system.

In terms of gameplay, there are also many strategies. One of these, called the ‘Basic Strategy’ is based on maths and will give you the best odds (by minimising the house edge). If you’re planning on getting good at Blackjack and playing often, it’s worth doing some research on betting and playing strategies.

Testing these out on this table game is worth it, as you can play on your own without a real dealer or other players. If you’re ready for the real thing, why not choose Novomatic’s live version of the same game? Live Blackjack from Novomatic is excellent! You get to play against a real dealer instead of just a computer. Other players will also be sitting at the same table, so you can feel some comradery as you try to one-up the dealer!
